Black Gardenia is a different kind of vintage jazz band. Their exploration of the mysterious place where jazz, blues, folk and old country meet has yielded a sound that takes listeners to a time and place where cool was always classy and noir was the norm. This is Black Gardenia’s debut album that came about during a weekly residency at The Revel Room, in Vancouver’s historic Gastown. This first incarnation of Black Gardenia includes the Lap Steel of Jimmy Roy (Ray Condo and The Ricochets and Big Sandy), and Joanie Kepler (bs), Andrew Smith (gtr) and a London Jazz Meets Americana sound that explores that mysterious area where jazz, folk and old time country meet. With guest features of Stephen Nikleva (gtr), Chris Davis (trp), Guido Heistek (ukulele).
